Thai Yoga Massage (Nuad Bo-rarn) – Originated in Thailand in the second millennia BC, Thai Yoga Massage is a form of bodywork that combines dynamic assisted stretching influenced by Yoga, and physical pressure along energy lines influenced by Chinese acupuncture and Ayurveda.
Katey Hawes has received her Level I & II Thai Yoga Bodywork certification from Shivashakti School of Yoga & Healing Arts. Sessions are performed on a mat on the floor, though sessions can be modified for table work for those unable to access the floor, and the recipient remains fully clothed except for their feet. Hands, thumbs, feet, and sometimes elbows are used to work energy lines of the body, and Yoga type stretching movements are provided in a rhythmic rocking manner to help the recipient release deep and superficial tension and increase flexibility. At the end of the session, recipients feel both relaxed and energized at the same time!
