10-week series beginning late September. Days and time TBD FREE for vets, reservists, and active duty personnel.
This program follows the Mindful Yoga Therapy (MYT) protocol specifically designed for the military / veteran population. MYT programs and resources are now being offered at 47 different VA facilities. Research has shown the beneficial effects of Yoga for PTSD, anxiety, and stress related challenges.
Vets will receive simple instruction in 5 key elements of yoga practice: breathing, meditation, mindful movement, guided rest, and gratitude. Modifications of poses are taught for any students with specific physical challenges. Participants will learn how to incorporate and utilize these techniques outside of class in their day to day lives.
The class instructor, Jeff Hawes, is a US Navy vet, social worker, and registered yoga instructor. Jeff recently completed the MYT training and is committed to helping veterans of all ages and physical abilities learn tools offered by yoga to help relax and focus the mind, relieve stress and anxiety, improve sleep, and increase strength and flexibility.
